Summary Supervises and coordinates daily activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned. This position is a full time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
Compiles records of unfilled orders.
Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates occasionally.
Addresses errors, problems and complaints within scope of authority.
Experience with international shipping, customs requirements. (NAFTA, AES, commercial invoices).
Supervises employees engaged in verifying and preparing Fittings for shipment.
Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
Creates shipping documentation including Bills of Lading, Shipping Labels, and Export Paperwork. (NAFTA Certs).
Routes outgoing LTL shipments through various freight carriers and schedules transportation of shipments.
Works closely with Logistics providers to assure on-time shipments.
Maintains shipment files, issues reports, and responds to customer inquiries regarding status of shipments.
Prepares and follows-up on freight claims with Customer Service.
Generates pick lists using MAS System.
Commits Returns in MAS System.
Provides freight rates to customer service department when needed.
Communicate accurate order/shipment/export details to Customer Service.
Communicates shortages to scheduling and Customer Service.
Generates AWWA Certifications when needed.
Schedules, coordinates and oversees the daily activities of workers.

Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems.
Ensures proper quality standards are maintained on products being produced.
Observes and enforces all Company, housekeeping, safety and plant policies and procedures.

Trains, develops and mentors employees.
Advises and counsels workers on how to improve their performance and provides input on performance appraisals, training needs and disciplinary actions.
Ensures that subordinates comply with all housekeeping, safety and plant rules, policies and procedures.
Communicates effectively within department and with others.
Keeps supervisor informed of problems as they arise.
Performs duties of supervisor in his/her absence.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises up to 9 workers in accordance with the Company’s policies, practices and procedures. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 2 years’ manufacturing shipping experience required; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience; 1 year in a leadership capacity preferred.
Computer Skills: Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, Office programs and applications such as word processing, email, database management and spreadsheets.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as Company policies, operating and procedure manuals and general technical instructions.
