Overview

Conduct and coordinate compliance with enviromental requirements.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections of environmental control equipment and critical environmental areas at prescribed frequency. Assesses the environmental risk of activities and advises management on environmental impact. Confers with departmental supervisors and manufacturing Representatives to design plan and monitor equipment for environmental compliances. Operates and maintains equipment which monitors waste, land and or water. Investigates, recommends and participates in the design and construction of environmental improvements and modification programs. Oversees and participates in the scheduling and completion of environmental testing and analyzing of water and waste samples and monitoring processing systems. Deal directly with environmental agency Representatives during the facility inspections. Maintain the environmental documents. Works with environmental manager to assure that annual, semiannual and quarterly compliance reports, SPCC, SPPP plans, etc. are completed and submitted to agencies as appropriate. Experience with wastewater treatment plant operations (non-biological). Supervisory experience a plus.

Qualifications

           

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent; or 5 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • EPA Method 9 and DOT/RCRA

  • Intermediate computer skills w/ Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dakota Suite

  • Must have 5 or more years of experience and possess skills relating, but not limited to:

    • Updating plans and permits

    • Aptitude in emissions inventories

    • Understand air pollution control systems

    • Manage stack emission testing, specify and evaluate CEMS

    • Maintain compliance in EPA Method 9, Hazardous Waste Management and Hazardous Materials Transportation)

    • Sustain site laboratory certificate for pH measurements

    • Maintain EMS system

  • Must be knowledgeable in government agency procedures to follow in cleaning up contaminated sites to protect people and the environment

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to interact with all levels of management

  • Must have experience formatting/developing/implementing/maintaining/updating plans, permits, and or standard operating procedures.

    •  Clean, well-lit climate with occasional periods of temperature extremes while walking in various production areas. Loud noise work environment. Works with various office machines and equipment.

    •  Environmental conditions include wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, handling of treatment plant chemicals and universal waste.
